The GCSB Conservation arm keeps the membership well informed on current conservation issues; to promote respect for natural resources and responsibility for environmental stewardship; to encourage clubs to identify and carry out conservation work locally; to provide environmental education programs for youth and the general public; and with the Executive Board’s approval, to work with other conservation agencies and organizations whose programs complement those of The Garden Club of America.

- prepare reports on conservation work in the zones and areas of conservation interest to the GCA.
- publish ConWatch, a seasonal publication highlighting key conservation issues and legislation.
- plan and execute the annual Conservation Study Trip.
- encourage the collecting and sharing of member submitted Conservation Showcase stories which feature conservation efforts by local GCA clubs.
- solicit, maintain and support Partners for Plants projects.
- honor club members, people and organizations by encouraging and approving GCA conservation and civic improvement awards and commendations.
- create and update jointly with the NAL Committee the GCA Position Papers.
- work with other conservation agencies and organizations whose programs complement those of the GCA.
